Par 4
312 | 271 | 257 | 227 yards
The closing hole on the front is a great short par 4. Strategy must come into play thanks to a great design. The hole plays uphill to an elevated green. While the hole is short, reaching the green is not easy. it is elevated on all sides and fronted by a trio of bunkers.
So if one decides to not attempt to reach the green off the tee then they are faced with another decision. Layup short off the tee to a receptive area that ends at bout 150 yards out, or go for another landing area about 70 yards out. In between, the fairway narrows to a choke point when the sand bordering both sides sides of the hole, juts in from the right.
The green is not the deepest. On the right side it is only about 17 yards deep. On the left it is much deeper at around 40 yards.
A fun hole with lots of potential ways to play.
So for the front nine I had a pretty good start. I stubbed my toe a bit on the easy 9th with a double. Other than that a smattering of bogeys on 1, 4, and 7 were the only other blemishes. I hit every fairway in regulation, but only 4 GIR. Putting was decent (especially given the size, speed, and undulations of the greens) with 18. That included two 3-putts and two 1-putts. An opening 41.
