Streamsong Red Hole 5

To see the entire write up go here

Par 4
453 | 344 | 328 | 312 yards

With a brief reprieve from water on the 4th, we are back to another daunting tee shot that features water prominently in play, as it runs down the entire right side of this hole.  From the tips you have an elevated tee shot to this fairway which curls around the water.  This hole has a huge difference between the tips and the next tees.  The remaining tees are at fairway level and over 100 yards up the hole.  From the tips you are playing driver.  From the other tees you have a myriad of options based on how conservatively you want to be.

The left side of the hole is dominated by a towering mound.  From the tips this mound is 260 yards away.

Hitting at the left hill, or slightly right of it, offers the widest margin for error but will leave a long iron into the green.  Cutting the distance down means taking on more of the water down the right.  Mounding on that side can also lead to a bit of excitement depending on how your ball catches them.

Approaching the green your eye is drawn to the shaggy hill behind the green and the dual bunkers that sit ominously there.  Another pair of bunkers line the right edge of the green. A large mound on the left offers a creative bank onto the green and hides a large collection area behind it.

A view from atop the mound to the left of the green, this is one of my favorite pictures of the Red course I took.  You can see the clubhouse tucked into the hills, and the 6th green in the mid-ground.

The green is a large triangular shape with a back to front slope and a sizable false front.  It is large, probably close to around 9400 sq. ft.

A view of the bunkers behind the green, with the 6th green also shown in the background.

Luckily on this hole I was not playing the tips.  I couldn't believe how much of a difference there is on this hole.  From back there you have a nasty tee shot.  From the up tees, I was able to play an iron off the tee and made a par.
