Par 4
330 | 312 | 290 | 271 yards
The first non-elevated tee shot of the day takes the opposite approach- a flat shot towards a rising fairway. From the tee a scattering of bunkers dot the fairway. Straight ahead lies the green, backed towering mounds.
In between you and the green is the holes central figure- a jagged bunker rips the fairway down its midline.
This bunker is enormous at 50 yards in length. While it is only 265 yards to clear the bunker from the tips, I decided the prudent move was a long iron played right at the bunker. I misjudged my carry but luckily got a favorable bounce and my ball kicked to the right of the yawing pit.
Framing the hole on both sides is more of the sand scrub. I love how the fairway and the rough dont have sharp delineations, they just seamlessly start and end.
The sandy scrub that borders most holes on the course is just awesome. In the background you can see the Streamsong clubhouse
Approaching this green you must negotiate the central bunkers. The green envelops these bunkers on either side in a shallow kidney shape. Both sides of the green have a significant false front. You must hit onto near the center to avoid the potential of running off the front as my ball did.
Behind the green offers a chance to use the slope to run a ball back onto the green, however there is a bunker on the left and ball swallowing shag if hit too far.
This green is shallow- only around 15 yards exist in the center between the bunker and the back edge. Overall it is about 30 yards deep but part of that depth is on the front where a ball is unlikely to hold the green.
Having my ball come off the front of the green on my second shot, I failed to save par and scored a bogey.
