Streamsong Red Hole 17

To see the entire write up go here

Par 4
403 | 384 | 343 | 317 yards

The penultimate hole on Red is a shorter par 4.  Plenty of trouble waits for those trying to hit driver here.  The hole is canted diagonally from the tees and therefor plays like a dogleg right.  Off the tee, a ridge of sand guards the right side of the fairway until 90 yards from the hole.

On the left side, a cross bunker juts out about 100 yards out and transects the fairway.  Clearing these hazards requires over 300 yards of carry from the tips.  A little more than that actually, as the hole plays uphill.

By far the safest play is to layup to the 160-140 range.  This allows you to take advantage of the widest landing area on the hole.

Should you avoid the sand on the hole you will need to carry the cross bunker and several mounds guarding the front of the green.

The green is likely partially hidden on your approach shots by the mounds in the fairway.  It is guarded primarily down the left side by a bunker running the length of the green.  There is also a single pot bunker short right.

A view of the green from the 18th tee shows the slope from back to front.

This is the sea of sand that runs up the right side of the hole.  I love that hill at the end of the sand and how the sand's edge is undefined and determined by the winds.
