Playing CreeksBend

We traveled down to New Prague and Creeks Bend for my first round of play in July.  There was a deal in the St Paul Pioneer Press to play here for $20 including range balls and cart.  Today my playing partners were my wife, and her brother and father.  For that kind of price the drive down was worth while.

It was my father in laws first time out this year and it was a nice day to get out and play some golf.

Creeks bend is a newer golf course, ahving opened in 1995.  It is not the prettiest course- it was built on old farm land is relatively flat but the course is usually kept in good shape and because of the distance south it does not get as much wear and tear as some closer courses.  It is short at just a shade under 6300 yards from the tips.

The course does have a nice variety of holes .  Some could be called a little gimmicky, but all in all a fun course.  The one thing that makes me not like the course is the blind shots.  There are a lot of shots where the green is hidden on your approach shot.  It gets a little frustrating to be 150-100 yards out and not really know where you are supposed to hit the ball.

Here is one of the common sights on the course- blind shots.

Hole 2 has an interesting elevation change, hitting slightly uphill off the tee and then to a green that is raised above the fairway a good 20 feet.

Hole 3 is an uphill par 3 that means a typical blind landing on the green

Hole 4 and Jeremy ripping a big draw.

Bob on hole 14, one of the more gimmicky holes.  A 474 yard par 4 that requires a layup off the tee, then a shot around a grove of trees, and finally carrying wetlands to the green.

I played OK, shooting an 83 even though I failed to hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation.
