Golfing Dwan

Michael Vigen and I got in a round of golf at Dwan today, teeing off at 11AM since the Vikings do not play until the 3PM game.  Dwan is a short (5485 yard, par 68 from the tips) municipal run course in Bloomington, MN.  A short course like this is supposed to be salve for the golfing ego.

Supposed to be.
The 1st hole.

The approach on 2.  I hit a 7 iron flush flying the green and landing about 170 yards.

Vigen teeing it up on 3.
I ended up shooting an adjusted 82 for the round.  Sounds good if you hear you scored that on a regulation course.  But 14 over is not good for Dwan.

Michael chipping from left of the green on 6.

The prettiest hole on the course, the par 3 8th hole.
The approach shot into the par 5 12th.
Vigen chipped in for bird on this hole from right of the green.

Most of my troubles came on the front nine where I scored a 9 over 43.  That was 7 bogeys, 1 double, and 1 par.
The evil 13th.  I shudder looking at this picture. Bad hole. Bad.
On the back nine I played better I was even par on the first and last three holes of the side bu carded an adjusted double, bogey, bogey in the middle.  That adjusted double was actually a 10.  This occurred on hole 13.  Here is my shot sequence on that hole:
  • Of the tee- hit the top of the trees lining the left side of the hole.  The ball kicked back towards the tee; maybe 40 yards from the tee box.
  • Second shot- hit a tree down the left side.  Ball kicked into the trees.
  • Third shot- hit a tree down the left side.
  • Fourth shot- hit a tree down the left side.
  • Fifth shot- hit a bird feeder down the left side (seriously).
  • Sixth shot- hit a tree down the left side.
  • Seventh shot- clipped probably the last tree down the left side.  The ball kicked out into the fairway.
  • Eighth shot- chipped onto the green.
  • Ninth shot- missed putt.
  • Tenth shot- putt made!
 Michael on 14.

 The uphill approach on 17.

The approach in on the par 3 18th hole.  I believe this to be the biggest green on the course.
