Hole 7 Par 4
302 | 281 | 263 | 263 | 221 yards
This is an interesting short hole. The green is reachable off the tee but the shot must be precise. Anything coming up short is dead. For most people the play here is an iron off the tee to set up a comfortable distance for your second shot.
Off the tee the fairway is visually squeezed by bunkers jutting in from the right side and the bushes that block out some of the fairway on the left, as well as another bunker hiding on that side.
The fairway appears to drop away into trouble but there are actually 2 plateaus over the hill before you hit the trouble. From the tips the trouble actually starts at 240 yards.
A view from atop the hill to the right of the back tees gives a better vantage point of the fairway
From the atop the knoll in the fairway you can see how there are actually 2 levels passed the hill. The green will be elevated on your second shot, provided you hit over the crest of the hill.
The green is fairly shallow but extremely wide. A grass backstop offers protection from going long and provides a little safety net for those daring to go for home off the tee. Missing right or short is obviously not a good idea but there is room to miss left.
A view from behind the green back down the hole shows the descending elevation from the tee through the fairway.
Hole 8 Par 3
248 | 217 | 152 | 127 | 81 yards
Your drive from the 7th to the 8th hole offers another roller coaster experience. As you drive you get a glimpse of the hole you are about to play. A tiny speck of green set in front of the cliffs. From the back two tees this is one tough par 3 but from the front tees it is not too bad. Precision is key however as a creek snakes around this hole, coming into play front, left, and behind the green. There is room to miss right but the desert hills, and cart path can cause problems down that side. To the right of the green where the trees are is also where the creek runs so missing long right is problematic also.
A drop area is provided within a small peninsula in the winding stream.
You can see how the green is back to front sloping with two tiers. The green is quite deep, a good thing if you are playing in from 250 yards!
Hole 9 Par 4
390 | 303 | 271 | 236 | 209 yards
A visually intimidating but short par 4 awaits as the final hole on the front. Though shorter it offers plenty of trouble. A pond crosses right in front of the tees requiring a 240 yard carry from the tips. To the left a trio of bunkers await and beyond them the cliff sweeps into play with more desert scrub over the top of them. To provide hazards right, another pond sits hidden over the grass mound, and a large bunker lays beyond the water.
A closer look at your target off the tee. The fairway rises passed the water all the way to the green. Hitting the green is important as a large bunker sitting below the green on the right makes fo a very difficult save. To the left of the green is a hidden pond. Take enough club to get to the green! Long is better than short.
Once again the green is a very deep undulated surface that slopes from back to front. There are 3 distinct tiers to contend with.
A beautiful look back back down the hole offers a great view of all of the trouble in play and offers a glimpse back at the number one hole to the left and directly behind, the 17th hole followed by the 8th.
A great place to look back and reflect at how ridiculously special this course is.
